The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 12:59 pm, their office received a report of a male that had fallen from a tree at a residence on Circle Drive, approximately four miles east of Harding, MN in Pulaski Township.
Emergency responders arrived to find that 57-year-old Daniel Dickman of Hillman, MN had been working approximately 37 feet up in a tree, cutting it down in sections. During the process, one of the cut sections swung unexpectedly, striking the tree trunk and causing it to break. Dickman fell to the ground, and a portion of the tree subsequently landed on him.
Despite immediate life saving efforts by first responders, Dickman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff Shawn Larsen stated, “Our hearts go out to Mr. Dickman’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences and support to all who are grieving this sudden and devasting loss. We also want to recognize and sincerely thank all the emergency personnel who responded to this incident, as they worked with compassion and professionalism under difficult circumstances”.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hillman Area Rescue Team, Sullivan Lake First Response Team, Pierz Fire Department, North Air Care and Onamia Ambulance.
